Abstract
Gel-separated glycoproteins were structurally characterized using tandem high resolution mass spectrometry. Proteins were separated by two dimensional PAGE and stained with Coomassie blue or with glycoprotein stain. Spots containing glycoproteins were cut out and digested in-gel with trypsin. The combination of a rapid two dimensional mini-gel glycoprotein separation, glycoprotein visualization, in-gel digestion, and mass spectrometric analysis in a high sensitivity high-resolution instrument allowed the rapid identification of glycoproteins.
