N2 - This case study highlights several issues in the care of obese patients with chronic renal failure who may be disqualified from kidney transplantation on the basis of being overweight. The elimination of fenfluramine, dexfenfluramine, and phentermine may be markedly delayed because of reduced glomerular filtration. In the event that these drugs are prescribed to patients on dialysis, guidelines for monitoring of therapeutic response and toxicity are provided.
