Abstract

Sun protection factor (SPF) advertising was studied in the 2004 summer issues of twelve popular U.S. magazines. Magazines directed toward women carried significantly more SPF advertising than men's and general interest publications (p < 0.05). Only three advertisements, all from women's magazines, about using SPF to protect lips from ultraviolet radiation were identified.
