Abstract

The majority of patients with depression also will suffer from a comorbid anxiety disorder that may include panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, social phobia, or generalized anxiety disorder. The selective-serotonin reuptake inhibitors present an alternative and useful monotherapy in patients with depression and comorbid anxiety disorders. This treatment is likely to be highly cost-effective as well.
