Abstract
Achieving an appropriate level of platelet inhibition and anticoagulation is crucial to avoid complications of thrombosis, embolism, and hemorrhage in neuroendovascular procedures. Numerous newer platelet inhibitors and anticoagulants have been released, recently. Additionally, many new laboratory and point-of-care (POC) tests are available on the market to determine the amount of platelet inhibition and anticoagulation. This chapter reviews the most commonly used platelet inhibitors, anticoagulants, and platelet function and anticoagulation tests for neuroendovascular procedures. We also discuss the use of these medications in the most common clinical scenarios.
