Abstract

Due to the excellent characteristics of EPS foam, the numerical simulation of the blast response with columnar explosive in infinite rock mass was made based on the explicit dynamic analysis software LS-DYNA. The effective stresses in the rock blast uncoupled with three foam densities were compared to inspect the effect of the physical properties of EPS foam on blasting effects. Using the EPS foam of ρ0=21.0 kg/m3, the blasting response under six different uncoupled coefficients were numerically investigated, and the effective stress field around blasthole, the hydrostatic pressure, the speed and acceleration attenuation laws were obtained.
