Abstract
Percutaneous image-guided chemical ablation plays a role in the management of a wide spectrum of liver lesions, ranging from simple liver cysts to multifocal primary or metastatic liver tumors. This chapter discusses the indications, contraindications, and controversies involving chemical ablation compared with surgical and other locoregional therapies in the management of liver lesions. Current literature supports the superiority of thermal ablation over chemical ablation. However, chemical ablation is a safe, simple, and effective procedure that offers many distinct advantages especially in patients who are not candidates for thermal ablation.
