Abstract

Electron microscopic studies of the pancreases of 3 week old ICR Swiss mice infected with Venezuelan equine encephalitis virus and killed 6 days post inoculation (at which time they were moribund) indicated significantly more type C particles than were found in uninfected controls. This phenomenon was apparently possible because of the microanatomy of the pancreas, in which interstitial spaces allowed accumulation of virus particles.
