Abstract
Unintentional injury is the leading cause of disability and death in children older than 1 year of age and adolescents in the United States [1]. In 2011, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported there were 5913 unintentional injury-related deaths and 1786 homicides among children 1-18 years of age, with 58% related to automobile or other transport-related injury [2]. Further, unintentional injury resulted in 2,147,653 years of potential life lost, or 19.4% of all years of potential life lost [3].
