Abstract
Smooth muscle is the prevalent tissue in the gastrointestinal and the genitourinary systems, but it is present in limited amount in the oral cavity. This may account for the low occurrence of smooth muscle neoplasms in the latter region. This article reports a primary, central leiomyosarcoma in the mandible.
