Abstract

Bypass of bile from the duodenum into the jejunum did not affect Lipomul-induced CCK-33 release. Cholecystectomy resulted in an increase in the release of CCK-33 stimulated by ID fat. This finding suggests that the gallbladder is involved in the feedback regulation of CCK release. The delayed peak increase of CCK-33 during continuous ID Lipomul infusion (90 to 240 minutes) may be due to a permissive release of CCK-33 by the small bowel distal to the duodenum after removal of the gallbladder or adaptation of the small bowel to the postcholecystectomy state.
