Abstract
This report presents a procedure for determining productivity and cost comparison using two related concepts: a Patient Care Unit (PCU), which identifies the units of resources used to deliver individual patient care services, and Diagnosis Related Group (DRG) which combines various HICDA diagnosis codes into groups that have similar length of stay as well as similar clinical patterns.
