N2 - Hypotension is frequently encountered in preterm infants. However, there is no standard definition for hypotension and the therapies for treating hypotension in neonates vary greatly, based on individual preferences. This article focuses on the pathophysiology of hypotension in preterm neonates, the role of the transition from fetal to perinatal circulation on neonatal blood pressure, the mechanisms of action of agents used in the treatment of hypotension, and the specific indications for the use of such agents.
