Abstract

Carcinomas of the large bowel, stomach, and pancreas account for more than 150,000 new cases of cancer and cause the death of 75,000 patients yearly. ¹ Treatment of patients with these cancers relies heavily on adequate surgical resection. This is effective only when localized tumor is present. There is no effective systemic treatment for metastatic colon, stomach, or pancreatic cancer.
