Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Recent years have witnessed notable improvements brought on by the latest generation of computed tomography (CT): helical (spiral) scanning. Although this technology holds significant advantages over conventional modalities, its use in mainstream medicine can be enhanced by thoughtful consideration of the challenges and opportunities it poses. In this article, Drs Nipper and Jacobson candidly explore the application of helical CT in the detection of pulmonary embolism, deep venous thrombosis, and ureteral calculus and in the assessment of appendicitis and small-bowel obstruction.
