Abstract
Impulse control disorders are characterized by repetitive and dysregulated behaviors, often resulting in bodily harm or antisocial activities. Changes in the classification of these disorders in DSM-5 have separated these disorders into two distinct groups. Habit behaviors and disorders are now thought to be related to obsessive compulsive disorders (OCDs), while other disruptive and impulsive conditions are now grouped with other antisocial and oppositional disorders. Additionally, while research has identified effective treatments for some, others remain poorly understood.
