Abstract
Raised anti-salmonella agglutinins were found in eleven of forty patients (27·5%) with chronic active liver disease. All bacteriological cultures for Salmonella were negative. The raised titres may represent another manifestation of altered globulin formation in chronic active liver disease, rather than denoting salmonellosis; and these titres could lead to errors in diagnosis.
