Abstract
Helicobacter pylori (H.pylori) is a common widespread infection that, if left untreated, is a risk factor for gastric cancer. H.pylori is a contagious disease with a high prevalence in low socioeconomic areas. The multidrug regimen for eradication of H.pylori can be difficult to complete because of medication side effects, confusing dosing regimens, and cost. Thisarticle reviews H.pylori infection pathophysiology, symptoms, screening, and diagnosis. Using the most recent evidence-based research, recommendations have been made toachieve the most efficacious and cost-effective treatment of H.pylori in the primary care setting.
