Abstract

In a study of 229 patients with malignant lymphoma and chronic lymphocytic leukemia, an investigation of allergic symptomatology and immunoglobulin levels was conducted. Patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia demonstrated a decreased incidence of allergic symptomatology which could be correlated with diminution of serum IgE levels. Of interest was the observation that some patients with lymphoma lost their symptoms of allergy prior to onset of the malignancy. History of allergic symptoms was elicited with equal frequency in both patients with malignancy and control population.
